Mexico is a popular tourist destination and if you go to the city of Toluca, here are some interesting things to see or do:
Cosmovitral Jardín Botánico
Located in the northeast section of Plaza Garibay, the spectacular and exceptional Cosmovitral Jardín Botánico was constructed in 1909 and was originally a market. Now, its building is home to 3,500 square meters of beautiful gardens, which are lighted up via 48 stained glass window panels created by Leopoldo Flores, a Tolucan artist.
Centro Cultural Mexiquense
The Centro Cultural Mexiquense is a huge center of culture and it’s about four and a half kilometers from the center of town. There are three museums there that you can browse.
Museo Modelo de Ciencias e Industria
The Mueso Modelo de Ciencias e Industria is a strange, but interesting fairly new museum attraction. It’s all in honor of the Modelo beer company and has everything you ever wanted to know about this huge and famous beer company.
This is a brand new downtown location for Casart, which is a state organization that promotes local handiwork. It offers a brilliant selection of arts and crafts from the area. You can’t haggle here, so the prices are a bit higher than other places, but the products here are of a better quality.
Mercado Juárez is an enormous daily market right behind the local bus station. IT happens on Fridays and you can buy fruit, pots, flowers, plastic items and clothing. It’s very colorful and chaotic, but interesting.
Museo de Bellas Artes
These buildings were once a convent and are located next to the Templo del Carmen, which is found in the northern section of Plaza Garibay. It is home to paintings from colonial times to the 20th century.
