Santa Monica Pier
Santa Monica Pier area is full of restaurants, three miles of beach, a lively nightlife, street performances and thrill rides in Pacific Park. The State Beach here is where the TV show Baywatch was filmed.
TCL Chinese Theatre and Walk of Fame
The TCL Chinese Theatre opened in 1927 and embodies the Hollywood Golden Age. You can go on a tour seven days a week and learn its history. Outside is the Hollywood Walk of Fame where you can see handprints and signatures of hundreds of movie embedded into the sidewalk.
Third Street Promenade
The Third Street Promenade is a shopper’s paradise with an open air shopping mall filled with all kinds of stores like REI, the Banana Republic and the Thunderbolt Spiritual Books. Plus there are restaurants, a farmer’s market, and pedestrian friendly promenades to enjoy.
From the 1920s, Paramount has had many famous movies and TV shows like Star Trek, Forrest Gump, Braveheart, I Love Lucy and Titanic. It’s the only entertainment studio still operating in this area. Go on a studio tour and see the 65 acres from a golf cart as you get to see sound stages and studio sets from current shows and movies.
Los Angeles County Museum of Art
Opened in 1965, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art has housed thousands of art pieces, from Islamic relics to European impressionist paintings and examples of modern art, as the exhibits change often. There are also over 20 acres of gardens to view. It’s located at Wilshire Boulevard.
Two blocks from Hollywood Boulevard sits the Runyon Canyon, an urban park with great scenic views from the top of the canyon. It’s a great place to relax or hike. Don’t forget to bring some water.
